The most well-known yearly Prague Easter Market event is one of the most fascinating Easter festivities hosted in the capital of the Czech Republic. The main Prague Easter markets are held in all four of the capital’s most well-known locations: Prague castle, Old Town, Wenceslas, and the Republic’s Square.

But is a Prague Easter market worth visiting?

The Prague Easter Markets have become an integral part of the city’s reawakening from the long winter, bringing with them a riot of colour in the form of handicrafts, a wide variety of tasty treats, and wonderful, time-honoured traditions.

Additionally, Prague has a wide variety of Easter-related activities, including shopping, boat trips, festivals, and religious celebrations. 

From the middle of March to Easter Sunday, Prague Easter markets will be brimming with festively adorned shops selling traditional goods and entertainment.

1. The Weather is pleasant in April

There is more daylight in the spring, and the Prague weather in April is significantly warmer, making it an ideal season for touring Prague. Prague’s Easter markets and other distinct top attractions remain relatively uncrowded in Easter, allowing you more personal space to enjoy them.

2. There are a lot of exciting activities

Easter celebrations in Prague include a wide range of options, from a visit to a Prague Easter market and a river cruise to festivals and churches.

The popular Prague Easter markets take place from about the middle of March until Easter Sunday. They feature festive decorations, traditional items, live performances, and dog parks for the kids.

3. Prague is a lot of fun during Easter 

Several customs persist, especially in smaller communities; Easter celebrations vary by region. The hand-decorated eggs (Kraslice) are the most recognizable symbol of Easter in the Czech Republic.

Old Town Easter Market

The largest Prague Easter market is located in the city’s Old Town square. Here you may get ice-cold beer, honey and mulled wine, barbecued ham, children’s toys, Easter chicks, sweets, and more from one of the numerous rustic huts that line the streets.

The famous Astronomical Clock is among Prague’s most recognizable icons and stands against the colorful backdrop of the market.  If you’re lucky, a carol will be playing in the background while you stroll around the market. You can also take a horse-drawn carriage trip for about 900 Czk (20$).

The Republic Square Easter Market

The Republic Square Market, situated next to the well-known Palladium shopping centre, is among Prague’s major Easter markets. This is where you can find a wide variety of unique gifts, such as custom-made Easter eggs, chicks, candlesticks, and wicker souvenirs.

Prague Castle Easter Market

This Prague Easter market is located in St. George’s Square. The Prague castle Easter market has live demonstrations of regional arts and crafts, such as Easter egg decorating, Easter whip braiding, and wool yarn spinning. Experience delicious cuisine, live music, and the performance of traditional groups dressed in traditional attire.

Hours of operation: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. | Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Open 9–7 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Wenceslas Easter Market

By the Mustek subway stop at the Wenceslas square is where you’ll find this Easter market. The Prague Easter market features the usual assortment of goods associated with the holiday and the revival of long-lost trades and manufacturing techniques.

Throughout the springtime, any of your favourite Prague Easter Market is open continuously. There are tours and boat cruises available at all hours.
